The Montpellier coach has expressed his satisfaction at his squad's showing in the pre-season and is looking forward to the start of the next Ligue 1 campaign
The 58-year-old has praised his players ahead of the match against Olympique Lyonnais in the Trophee des Champions.
The annual curtain raiser between the reigning Ligue 1 champions and Coupe de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 winners, will take place at New York’s Red Bull Arena, on July 28, 2012.
Rene Girard has claimed that his side is in good shape for the match against Lyon and players will give their best in order to get their hands on their first trophy of the season. The coach is pleased with the fact that the players haven’t picked up any
fresh injuries and is relishing the prospect of playing one of their rivals outside France.
"Everything is going well and we are getting stronger, the good thing is we haven't picked up any injury which is always the danger. It is very good that we have been able to keep most of our players together.”
The former France international conceded that he wanted to keep hold of Olivier Giroud, who left for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 earlier in the summer. However, Girard is pleased with the way new players at the club have gelled in with the rest of the squad.
"We have lost Olivier Giroud, who has gone to Arsenal, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Geoffrey-Dernis-c14535 to Brest and we have brought in some new players who are integrating very well and so we do have something of a new squad that want to experience something together."
Girard revealed that he has tried several new tactics ahead of the new season. The Frenchman said that the understanding between the players is a positive sign for the team, and it will help MHSC in the up-coming season.
"We have been working on the understanding between the players at training but this is a very positive period for the club."
