The 58-year-old has nothing but praise for La Paillade after they fought back to earn a valuable point against Schalke in the Champions League
Despite playing with 10 men for 35 minutes, MHSC showed their true colours at Veltins-Arena. A brilliant strike from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Souleymane-Camara-c33845 in the closing stages of the game earned Rene Girard’s men their first point of the competition.
After losing to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in their first match of the Champions League, Montpellier needed to get a positive result on Wednesday, which they managed to do so in the end.
And coach, Rene Girard is a happy man in town after seeing the champions earn a valuable point in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. While talking to reporters, the 58-year-old stated that it was a good night for La Paillade, and players are feeling a lot confident following their
impressive outing on Wednesday.
Montpellier were reduced to ten men with 35 minutes to go on the clock, and the coach is pleased with the way his players dealt with that.
"This match will do us a lot of good the team kept going right until the end; there can be no arguments about the sending-off or the penalty.”
Girard added that playing with a man less is never an easy task, especially away from home, and Montpellier deserve credit for managing it so well.
“To do what we did with ten men for 35 minutes, it's not easy, especially away from home; this is something of an exploit.”
Praising his players, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international said that things would have been different had Montpellier played with 11 men throughout the game.
“I am proud of my players, we deserve this point. With 11 men over the whole game, it would have been a different story.”
The coach said that the team showed a lot of courage and the result against Schalke is great for players’ morale.
“We showed a lot of courage. You can't take that away from us."
Montpellier will host http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stade-Rennais-FC-c40612 at Stade de la Mosson in their next match of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign, and Rene Girard would not accept anything but a win on Saturday.
