The Montpellier Herault coach wants nothing but a victory on Tuesday when La Paillade play host to FC Schalke 04 at Stade de la Mosson in the Champions League
The reigning French champions are already out of the European club competition but the coach wants to win the last game of their maiden Champions League experience in order to end the competition on a winning note.
While talking to reporters ahead of their European night, Rene Girard stated that it would be wrong to assume that Montpellier have nothing to play for against Die Knappen on Tuesday. La Paillade would go for a win and they will give their all in order to
get a positive result at home.
The boss added that his side has nothing to lose and they will play without pressure, which is a huge plus for the reigning French champions. Playing in the Champions League is a great honour and the coach feels that Montpellier should end it on a winning
note to leave a good impression behind.
“There is nothing at stake for us, but it is a Champions League game and we must play it.”
The Frenchman said that Montpellier did pretty well against the same opposition in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899
against the Bundesliga outfit.
"We were good over there and if we can win here it would be good.”
Talking about his side’s performance in Europe, Rene Girard said that he is frustrated with the way things have gone for MHSC and he was expecting better performance from the players. The coach added that things haven’t gone the way he planned and it’s really
disappointed.
However, the 58-year-old wants to end things on a high note with a victory at Stade de la Mosson against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Schalke-04-c39204 this Tuesday.
"I am frustrated because I know that it is only the small things that have let us down. I have big regrets and leaving this competition with a defeat would be disappointing.”
