The Montpellier coach has admitted that the in-form striker will hurt his side’s chances of getting a positive result on Wednesday when La Paillade take on Arsenal in the Champions League
The 58-year-old feels that the former Montpellier player, Olivier Giroud, who was sold to Arsenal in the summer, will pose his side all kinds of trouble when they take on the Gunners this Wednesday.
The France international was Ligue 1 top goal scorer and was the key figure in Montpellier’s title winning campaign. And after a shaky start in the Premier League, Olivier Giroud has rediscovered his best form and has been in clinical form lately.
After scoring four goals in his last three games, the Frenchman is expected to spearhead http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s attack on Wednesday and Montpellier coach, Rene Girard, is worried about the threat his former player pose to La Paillade’s chances of getting a positive result
at the Emirates Stadium.
While talking to reporters, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international stated that no one knows Olivier Giroud better than people here at Montpellier. The coach said that the 26-year-old is a natural goal scorer and he loves to score no matter for which team he is
playing.
“We know Olivier very well. He is a goalscorer. He is someone who loves to score goals."
Girard added that the Arsenal striker has been in fine form lately and Montpellier need to stop him from scoring in order to get a positive result against the Gunners.
“Unfortunately for us, I think he’s rediscovering his best form. He’s starting to score goals but we’ve also got some tactics which we can employ to try to stop him.
Montpellier’s coach said that Girard’s last game against La Paillade was an emotional one for him, but he has the capability to do wonders at this level. He is really good and Arsenal are lucky to have a player like him in their ranks.
“I think it was a very emotional game for him when he played at the Stade de la Mosson, it was a difficult game for him. I think he’s going to try and show he’s not here by accident but we know how good he is; he’s someone we really rate."
