Rene Ranger dropped from Blues roster for next Super Rugby clash
Pat Lam, the Blues coach, has dropped his out of form player, Rene Ranger, from their upcoming Super Rugby clash against the Stormers on May 20th. Lam dropped Rene Ranger for his continuous bad performance in the ongoing Super Rugby championship. He will
be replaced by Sherwin Stowers, who has made a comeback into the side after a long absence.
The replacement player, Sherwin Stowers, was also dropped from the side earlier this season by his coach due to a similarly bad string of matches. He was sent off to club rugby by Lam, who asked him to improve his skills in order to get another chance to
play for the Blues.
Ranger had a great start during the early rounds of Super Rugby but he lost momentum midway through the season. His coach was not happy with his current form and ultimately relegated him from at least one game. Lam took the decision to drop Ranger after
he remained unimpressive during last few games.
Pat Lam talked about Stowers and said, "He'd be the first to admit that he hasn't played to the high standards that he's set. We had a talk through it, it's a self-awareness thing. He asked where he was at and he knows he hasn't played that well. It gives
him a bit of a breather to prepare coming off the bench, and I'm expecting big things from him [tomorrow night]."
Blues’ coach admitted that the Ranger had a good start in the Championship but now it was time to replace him. He further said that it was difficult to carry on with him at such a crucial time. The Blues have been placed second on the point’s tables in the
recent Super Rugby season. They need to remain persistent with their current form to make their place in the semi-final of the Championship.
Talking about the other changes in his side, the Blues coach said that Tom McCartney will start as a loosehead, while Jared Payne had been moved to the fullback’s position. The Blues would also welcome back Jerome Kaino from an injury during the match.
