Renew you tax credit. What's that about?

Hi everynone,

I hope you can help me with advice.

There is this commercial rolling on TV - renew you tax credit with HM Revenue or you payments will stop - DO it by July 31st. I assume this is targeted to everyone, otherwise it would not be on TV.

My questions are:

Does this require me to take any action? Do I have to download some form online and volunteer info on my earnings? Does my employer do that automatically?

I looked up online in HM Revenue website, but they just say - renwe or your payments will stop and you may need to pay us.

What the heck doe sthat mean?

I am a bit new in UK, so this confusses me a bit. Please, any clarification of this lot.

Thank you
