  1. the renewable energy is there to be used,

right now is not cost efficient to use it but when we run out of oil of course it will be cost efficient (no competiton)

The best option is a combination of solar, wind, sea, and nuclear (even when not renewable)

No individual source will be able to satisfy the energy reuqeriments of our planet,

  2. At least for cars, I believe Hydrogen is the way to go.

  3. Nuclear is the only proved alternate source that can provide the huge amount and reliability needed. Solar, Wind, Geo Thermal, etc. will help but are not effective in many areas.

  4. How can we be too LATE---?

I think bio diesel is the way to go---in the mid TERM

Drilling for oil and building nuclear plants in the short term---

    More Liquified Gas plants.

Bio diesel is more energy efficient per gallon than ethanol.

Of course the holy Grail--for now is Hydrogen powered fuel cells.

Ethanol are not viable--even at 3.00 a gallon gas without some government subsidies and gets you ten percent less mileage per gallon as Gas does.

Solar and wind still need subsidies to compete with Coal to produce electricity.---

Tidal generators that produce electricity --as the tide comes in or goes out--or Wave turbines that do same--would also work well for local communities.

Of course--harvesting lighting strikes would be wonderful---Imagine each town having this huge lightning rods--or a multitude of them---for each community-- that sends the charge into a bank of capacitors that can discharge them  into batteries--and then send them out on the electrical grid.

In the extreme long term--ZERO POINT Energy or antimatter.

We won't run out of energy--unless the sun goes SUPERNOVA and we are all dead.

And it can never be too late.  Oil may get more expensive to get---but it will always be there until a cheaper form of energy replaces it.

    NOTES:

short term is the next 10 to 20 years.

Midterm is 20 years to 50.

long term--50 to 100 years plus.

    extreme long term--................
