Question:

Renewal of an F2 visa when in your home country?

I lived in Korea for 6 yrs and I was on an F2 visa for 3 1/2. It's still good until Oct of this year. My wife and I came to America in Oct of '07. I'm just wondering if there's anyone else out there who brought an F2 visa back with them, and renewed it at a Korean Consulate in their home countries. It seems that everytime I get ahold of someone at the Korean Consulate it's a different story.

  1. It will be - as you have discovered - pretty difficult to get a definitive answer by telephone.  Really, the best thing for you to do is to go to the nearest Korean consulate in person and apply, if you think you need to renew your F2 visa.  I would also suggest that, since your wife is Korean, you bring with you both originals and copies of all the documents you used when you applied in the first place.

In case you don't have this, here is a link to all the Korean Consulates in the US:
