Rennes' http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Douchez-c27810 confirms his departure at the end of 2010/11 season – Ligue 1 News
Rennes goalkeeper, Nicolas Douchez, has revealed that he would be leaving the Ligue 1 outfit at the end of current 2010/11 season. The 31-year-old has confirmed that he would be staying in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 but the only change will be that he will no more be in Rennes
colours.
Douchez insisted that he had a splendid time with the Reds and Blacks for the past two years and the only reason of switching is to face different challenges. The Frenchman mentioned that it was an extremely difficult decision to make and thanked his family
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Friends-football-club-c39381 who stood by him during this difficult period.
Nicolas joined the Ligue 1 outfit in 2008 after serving another French club, Toulouse for three years (2005-08). The shot-stopper has made 79 League appearances since then for Rennes but his performances have not earned him an International call up yet for
the French national side.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper added, "I took a long time [to decide] but I thought it was the best solution. It was the most difficult decision I have had to take. It's not obvious to leave a club where you are happy but I felt I needed a new challenge.”
Douchez also congratulated the entire Rennes outfit for having a decent enough campaign and also praised the efforts put in by the manager, Frederic Antonetti. He also urged his team to concentrate upon the upcoming fixtures, which hold immense importance
for the Reds and Blacks.
The goalkeeper concluded by saying, "The life of a footballer is full of challenges and I didn't want to take the easy option. I think if I had stayed here, I could have fallen into that mindset. I think I will be on the pitches of Ligue 1, but nothing is
sorted out yet. I want to finish well in these last two games with Rennes, then we will see about the future."
The former Toulouse player has been strongly linked with Paris Saint-Germain and it is expected that Douchez would sign up with them during the summer transfer window.
Rennes are fifth in the League table so far and will next be in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lille-OSC-c39800 on Sunday, May 29.
