The French outfit enjoys a good run of performances in the Championnat, but they want more. The Rennes based club wants to win trophies, having sights on Coupe de la Ligue.
Stade Rennais would be looking to seal themselves a semi-final place as they host Troyes at the Route de Lorient. The intentions of the Rennes-based club are quite clear, to win the cup, and that’s what the manager, Frederic Antonetti, is emphasizing on.
The SRFC manager stated that the club needs to add something dynamic to the club, with his reference to winning the silverware, something that the club hasn’t been able to do of late. The former football player stated:
“A good run in the Cup naturally gives you a plus in the league.”
Les Rouges et Noirs fans have been quite patient with the club, their support hasn’t dwindled for the Rennes-based club, and they have faith in the team they support. But Antonetti believes that this would not last long, if the club does not give anything
to cheer by. He insisted that it’s about time that the club repays their fans by winning some silverware.
The 51-year-old explained:
“The fans want that little bit extra, some added spice, and the cup is a chance to give them exactly that. We'll do our best get the result and give the fans a reason to be happy and enthusiastic.”
The Corsican is determined to lead the club to cup victory, and wants his players to share the same passion regarding silverware. Antonetti has left no doubts about his intentions and clearly stated that:
“We want to win the Coupe de la Ligue.”
Keeping in mind the club’s current performance, Stade Rennais appear as serious candidates for winning the Coupe de la Ligue. The team has a talented squad, and a manager, who would push his team to focus on the cup victory. With victories over Montpellier
HSC, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lille-OSC-c39800 and Paris Saint-Germain in the league, les Rouges et Noirs’ confidence is high.
AS Saint-Etienne, Montpellier and Lille have already secured their place in the semi-finals, with the last berth yet to be decided by tonight’s cup game. The former Saint-Etienne manager is determined to secure his position among the last four.
