The Ligue 1 outfit is eyeing a swoop for the Cameroon international as they brace for life without Yann M’Vila who is set to leave Les Rouges et Noirs
Stade Rennais are in the market for several new players as they seek to strengthen their squad before the start of the next season.

That has forced Rennes to look for players who could replace the want-away midfielder and bosses at the clubs have identified Jean Makoun as the player who can help fill that void.
The 29-year-old, who joined English Premier League side Aston Villa in the winter of 2011 from Lyon, spent last season on loan at Greek side Olympiacos. Even though the player has returned to his parent club ahead of the new season, his future at Villa Park is pretty uncertain.

While talking to reporters, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-c18112 Makoun revealed that he will listen to offers and a move away from the Premier League club would interest him. However, the former Lille player would not mind staying at Villa Park for another season but would like more playing time.
"I am ready to listen to all offers as I think it is the law of football, the law of this beautiful game. However, staying with Aston Villa would not bother me at all. This is a club that recruited me, with whom I am under contract.”
Rennes would be keeping a close eye on Makoun and would try to acquire the services of the former Lille player if Yann M’Vila leaves the club.
