  1. seal the wall!!   Brick facing is the way to go.  Hire a mason to do the work.

  2. Of course you can.  You can do anything if you are willing to pay for it.  I personally think it's a waste of money to put brick over a cement wall, but hey, if that's the look you are going for.  I would personally frame the wall out, run wiring to areas needed, insulate and vapor barrier, then find a good paneling that has a brick print on it.  Not only is it much cheaper, but you will be able to have power outlets or even wall sconces if you choose.  It's just more practical.

  3. You could have a wall of brick or brick facing (bricks with much of their depth cut away) put up, but unless you've laid brick before, this is a job that's beyond your expertise.

If hiring a mason is out of the question, consider a wall covering that's faux brick--some of the fakes are getting pretty good.

Other basement finishes I've seen work well are wood paneling and plain old drywall, painted or papered.

  4. Before you put anything on the cement wall, be sure to seal it so you won't get moisture coming from the outside.

Contrary to popular belief cement is not waterproof unless sealed. Water will seep through if it can.

Lowes offers some very good stone veneer products that you can put over a cement wall.

Get creative and have fun. Do it for yourself, not what other people think
