Renowned event manager Tina Brullo to don colours with the World Series Hockey
In a bid to make the event more successful, the World Series Hockey (WSH) roped in an Australia-based event manager, Tina Brullo, as the Competition Operations Manager of the league that is to commence on December 17, 2011.
Her appointment is a good omen for the WSH that is backed by the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) and Nimbus Sports. She is quite happy over her selection and termed it a big opportunity.
She observed, “I'm excited to be part of World Series Hockey, which is by far the biggest initiative that hockey has ever seen. It's the first time that eight different venues will be used in a single tournament in just over a month and managing competition
operations for a hockey event of this scale is a big opportunity”.
Tina Brullo has extensive experience in the field of event management, organising many international and domestic sports events.
It is worth highlighting here that Tina worked as a Competition Operations Manager with the 2010 FIH Hockey World Cup.
She was responsible for putting plenty of things in order according to the international standards, which included training schedules, transport, warm up pitches, areas of field, recruitments of volunteers and assisting umpires and officials.
Apart from that, she also has experience in many global events, mainly the 2004 Athens Olympics, 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, 2006 Doha Asian Games, 2009 ABN Amro Men's Champions Trophy, 2009 Samsung Women's Champions Trophy, 2011 AFC Asian Cup and
2011 Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix.
WSH Technical Director, Dennis Meredith, expressed delight over the appointment of Tina as the Competition Operations Manager.
He underlined, “Having spent several years in various capacities in the sport, from being a player to managing venues to handling competition operations, Tina brings in a holistic understanding to her role with WSH”.
In his view, Tina’s over 15-years experience will make the World Series Hockey (WSH) the best event from an operational point of view.
More than 200 national and international players will don colours in the franchise-based league. A total of 61 games will be played in different cities of India in a 35-day period.
With the appointment of Tina Brullo as the Competition Operations Manager, the inaugural edition of the WSH will surely grab the attention of hockey lovers from across the globe.
