Rent Broadway Cast?

I think that ticket sales for rent are down because of its sucky cast. i watched the tony awards and the current cast really pissed me off with how bad they were. Am I the only one who thinks this is why it's closing? I would like to know your opinions.

  1. I think the bad cast may be contributing. I also think the bad cast is a sign that no good singers/actors are interested mainly because the play has been around for so long. I think that it was just time for the musical to close : (

  2. Yea a sucky cast makes for a sucky show of course.....

  3. I really don't know what happened at the Tony's...maybe they just had an off night? Because that sounded TERRIBLE. I figured it was going to close sometime soon. Rent's been going for 12 years, which is quite a while. The reason I heard for their closing is that there's too much competition with Spring Awakening and Legally Blonde and other new musicals...which I think is retarded, Rent beats Legally Blonde any day, Spring Awakening...we'll see. Anywho, I've seen the national tour cast twice and they were all AMAZING, so instead of closing Rent on broadway, why don't they just steal the tour cast people? xD

  4. That might be, but also you have to put in that the show has run for over 12 years. And also there's alot of new musicals and sometimes its really hard to compete with the new shows. Also I heard that they were selling to really low theater capacity. I think that they should bring back as many of the original cast back for the final performance as possible i.e.(Adam Pascal-Roger, Anthony Rapp-Mark, Taye Diggs-Benny, Idina Menzel-Maureen-I would go see any show if she was in it).
