Rent assistance in Lenawee County, MI?

I'm a single mother and I was wondering if there is anyplace in the area that can offer rent assistance. I work vary hard at a full time job but I make just a little over min. wage. I applied with DHS and was approved, thankfully, for insurance for the children but that was all I qualified for. I'm willing to work more but until I can find a second job that can work around my hours with the job I have now, i'm stuck. Any suggestions? Not looking for charity, just suggestions. Thank you!

I don't live in Lenawee County, but in a nearby county in Michigan.  In our county there are numerous apartment complexes that offer pro-rated rent based on your income.  Many communities maintain faith-based organizations that are not necessarily charity, but rather offer resources to help families and individuals with their needs.  If you have a connection to a church you can ask at the office or the pastor if there is such an organization in your community.  In addition to state assistance, you may qualify for county assistance.  Check in the yellow pages of your phone book in the government section and see what Lenawee County has to offer.  There are other privately funded organizations that may be helpful to you.  Try doing a search of "rent assistance Lenawee County" and see what comes up.
