the house we were renting was in foreclosure and was sold to a bank. now they want us to continue paying the rent in order for us to keep the place but the thing is when we first move in we had other roomates with us that's why we were able to pay the rent. our roommates move out since they found out that the house was in forclosure and it's just my husband and i and my two kids left in the house and we can't afford to pay the whole rent...i heard about the relocation benefits will the bank offer that to us? in order for us to move out and find another place that we could afford. pls. i need some advice on what to do..thank you.

  1. Banks do not offer "relocation" benefits.  Those can only be obtained through social services.  A very small amount of banks will offer a "cash for keys" option....but most will just opt to start eviction proceedings if your fail to pay or leave.

  2. Wait - is the rent the same as it was when you moved in, or are they raising it? If your roommates were able to legally move out when the house went into foreclosure, why didn't you move too? You have to find a place that you can afford.
