  1. It's legal to rent an apartment at age 16.  Lots of kids do it. The only problem is that you could get out of any lease that you sign.  Anyone under 18 has the right to back out of any agreement. Even tho you are 16, the law treats everyone under 18 as if they were 8 years old and unable to make any decisions.

    I would recommend that you talk to private landlords.  If one of them liked you, you could live month-to-month.  She could evict you with 30 days notice but she wouldn't if you pay on time. Try it.  I'm a landlord and i would listen to what you have to say.

    If that doesn't work, apply to be a caretaker for an empty house where you would water plants and start up an undriven car every week to keep the battery charged.

  3. The minimum age is 18 to enter a real estate contract. You would need another person to be on the lease.
