Towed from my apartment complex?

Late last evening I arrived home to find that someone had parked in my assigned parking spot, so I parked in an uncovered (general parking) spot.

I awoke to find that my car was gone. I found out that security had it towed and that it would cost me 250.00 to get it back. At this point I asked security to tow the car in my spot, they came out and said that they could not tow this car because it had an AVALON placard in the window. They issued this car a Security citation and I am out 180.00 the actual amount it cost after waiting from 4:30 till 8:20 to get my car out of impound. I want to make someone PAY! Lawyers or legal minded people please assist. I lost a day of work and had to pay someone to take me to the tow lot.

Is this crazy or what?

  1. Well, I guess you should have informed security that your car was in the general spot because your spot was taken.  You are entitled to park, after all.

But what the heck is an AVALON placard, that means the person can park in any old spot and can't be touched?  I have never heard of such a thing.  When I lived in an apartment, we had an idiot that visited, and never used visitor parking, he parked in our parkade.  When he made the mistake of parking in my spot, I blocked his car in so it would still be there when the police arrived to ticket him.  We never saw his car in the parkade again.

  2. You parked in a general parking spot which mean in apartment wording " belonging to or relating to" the apartment complex, so you should not have been towed and you should speak with the manager.......

The worse case is that no one will listen to you and you have pictures of the parking arrangement and the tow receipt of where you were towed from, you can take this to small claims court and you would win...
