I understand Perth CBD is quite a pricey place for rental right now, so would there be greater availability and value in costal areas eg cottesloe, scarborough, mosman?

Moving to Perth in July from Ireland for 6 months

  1. All rents are now moving up quite substantially. What used to be $250 for  house in the suburbs is now $400.

Perth CBD is just that, Central Business District - so forget residential rentals there.

If you are coming on a 6 month visit, are you on a "backpacker" visa, or is your firm sending you?

Cottesloe is possibly the most pricey area (beach & posh), closely followed by Mosman Park (posh), then comes Scarborough (northern beaches).

When you say "coastal areas" don't forget that the whole of the Perth metro area is basically "coastal". There are cheaper areas and cheaper types of rental, but you would be pushed to access them on a 6 month visit.

Need more info to give you a realistic answer, but check the various REIWA sites, search "Perth Rentals" etc

  2. No, quite the opposite.

In the West Australian newspaper this week, they were saying that there are absolutely no rentals available in the Western suburbs at the moment. Not one advertisement!

Too many people have come here and have taken every last place for rent in Perth.

There are many homeless just thru lack of accommodation - not money.
