Rental house?

I rented my house recently. The tenent is asking me if he could bulid a fence in the backyad. According to our lease agreement, he is not allowed to make any modifications or alterations in the house. How could I say to him nicely that he is not permitted to do so. Thanks you.

  1. Just shoot from the hip with this one....tell him NO, the lease that you signed stated you cannot do and modifications or alterations to the house. You in control. Your property your rules.


  2. Honestly, I would let him build the fence. He is offering to add value to your home at his expense. Why not?

  3. Not sure why you wouldn't want him too, but if you decide let him do it make sure he submits you some plans.  If you have an HOA or any body else that could have issues make sure you get their approval.  You may want to take an extra deposit from him in case the fence doesn't turn out so well and it has to be removed once he leaves.

    If it would come an asset let him do it put cover your self in case it turns into a liability.

  4. Just tell him it is not allowed per the rental agreement.
