I have a single family home in city of Maricopa, Arizona for rent. It seems rental market has been slow dramatically in the past few months.

I am having hard time to find a tenant. Can anyone who are familar with local market provide me with some insight? Any tips to help me find a tenant will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

  1. have you tried posting an ad on craigslist? I know this is the website alot of college kids, young married couples, or couples w/small children use to find a rental house.

I live in Chandler and have several friends who live in Maricopa. they are saying that the real estate market is slumping out there too. my guess is not only due to the economy but also b/c :

-the area is SO rural (not too much being built out there yet)

-there is only one road in and one road out and it's not very big-traffic issues!!

-the closest medical facility (besides casa grande hospital which i've heard is fairly close) is Chandler Regional Hospital and it's a good 45 min drive.

My boyfriend and I looked at houses out there about 5 months ago but I refused to buy that far away simply based on the medical help issue. I have 3 small girls-two w/food and severe seasonal allergies and asthma-we've needed a hospital on more than one occasion and having it being 45mins away scared me to death.

i'm sorry you're having trouble renting the house out but if it's becoming financially necessary for you to rent the house then post the craigslist ad, go to various colleges in the area and post ad there as well.

    good luck!!
