My husband rented a bobcat on Friday afternoon from Hertz rentals. Hertz is coming tomorrow to pick it up. This is going to cost us approx $400. He was allowed up to 8 hours of running time on the machine. He maybe put as much as 1 hour..and realized it sucked because of all the mud.

Unfortunealy it rained rained and rained some more all weekend!

Do you think we are Sh*t outta luck? OR can we possibly get something back for a refund?

  1. You can try, but you didnt return it immediately and therefore, it is also your responsibility because they couldnt rent it out if they didnt have it on hand.

  2. Yes you are sh*t out of luck. They bare not reasonable for checking the weather, you are.If you read the rental agreement in full it will state that weather is not a reason for any refund.Only equipment failure would get you a refund.

  3. clean it real good and explain what happened, my rental place doesnt charge when they're closed

  4. Since it's didn't work properly, pulls to the right, tell them this when it's returned and they will probably let you have it for another weekend for no charge.  You can point out to them that it was only used for an hour before you got tired of it not working properly and parked it.

  5. if they want to ensure your future business they will cut you a break

  6. Unfortunately its going to be on you for the 8 hours rental & BobCats pull to the right when loading or scooping as a rule.

Also, don't rent equipment from places like Hertz as you will always pay premium rental rates unlessyou have an account with them.  Home Depot has tool & equipment rentals and I have rented BobCats from them.  The benefit to HD's Rentals is there equipment is usually always like new or in top condition. . . there rates are the best too.
