I'm thinking about renting a part barge or boat for my bday party... but I was wondering if anyone's done it and how much it cost for what size barge... btw i was thinking about doing it on Lake Lavon or Ray Hubbard in the Dallas area so if you've rented and boated there that would be double cool! lol

is it per hr? per person? thanks!

  1. Sounds like that will make for a great Birthday party.

The costs of such a boat is going to vary, your best deal is to get into the yellow pages and just call the different companies that rent them and ask.   You may find they have an age restriction or other rules they go by also.  Some even require that you attend a basic boating class before they will rent to you.

The cost of the boat, gas, insurance and their profit margin all play a part in their cost in renting a party boat out.

    Good luck!

Many of the smaller party boats rent out by the day or hour, so you can plan on what you want to do and for how long.  Most have limits to how many people they can carry, some carry six, some ten etc.  The boats that Capt Bill T is refering to carry a lot more people and come with a "Captain" and are quite a bit more in cost, but well worth it if you have a large crowd and don't want to worry about drinking and driving the boat.

The party boats that I assume that you are refering to are like the smaller ponton boats that have two long tubes on them that has a flat deck with railing around them and an outboard, cooler and BBQ on the deck.  Not really fast, but a fun way to spend the day/evening.

  2. We rent our boats by the person and / or by the hour.  A party only with no food provided by us would run 750 an hour for the boat and crew.  A dinner and 3 hour cruise with a 50 person minimum is 55 per person.

Dont know what the cost would be in Dallas area, but that is what we charge.   Have Fun!
