so in 2 weeks im flying out to visit my school (from st. paul, MN, to Bozeman, Montana) and am have heard that most places dont lend rental cars to people under the age of 21 so i was wondering if there are any special cases to this rule because it would be nice to have a car instead of having to take a taxi everywhere thanks.

  1. If you are in the military, you can rent a car at the age of 18. Otherwise, most car companies that do rent to 18 year olds such as Hertz charge a huge premium on under 21 rentals. Such premiums could go as high as 100 extra dollars a day. Try to find a small car rental place. They may let you do it.

  2. The rental company has to insure the car and to keep cost down for both the company and the renter the inforced the 21 and up rule. sorry they're pretty strict with it
