Hypothetically:

I currently live with my parents. If I choose to move out of my parents home soon, could I keep my permanent address as their home address? If I sign a lease for a year, I don't really consider that permanent, but my parents address will be there for the foreseeale future. Could I conceivably keep my car insurance at their home address?

Is this against the law or rules of the policy?

  1. you need to register and insure the car where it is garaged full time.  that would be where YOU live, not your parents.  if you live in an apt for a year, thats your permanent home.  you CAN have your insurance show the garaging address and thats where it would be rated, and still have your MAILING address at your parents

  2. based upon my own experience, here is a good resource that I have good luck with and would like to share with.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/ca...

  3. yes it is illegal because you are supposed to change your address at motor vehicles on your drivers license and your insurance is based on your address if you dont change your address most insurance companies will cancel your policy because they all ask where your vehicle will be parked at night and not telling them you moved is considered lying..... best bet change your address so you dont get in trouble..... hope this helps

  4. Check with your insurance agent. If you are going to a different State, you will need to change your license and insurance unless it is for college or military. Most insurance companies base their rates on where the car is "garaged" which would be your apartment address.
