Renting flats in Barcelona / Madrid?

I'm hoping to move out to Spain this time next year. I'd like to know roughly how much it costs to rent a room in an apartment in both Madrid and Barcelona. How do I go about finding rooms?

I'd be 26 by then, and would prefer to share a flat with other young professionals.

Prices in Madrid and Barcelona are very similar. Prices vary greatly depending on areas and on how many people sharing. Expect to pay approximately 350-500 euros / month.
