Renting question...?

I am wanting to make a move VERY SOON. However, my credit is AWFUL and I know that I would not pass a credit check...

However, I can pay for six months rent up front, in cash where I want to move to. They require credit checks and have short term leases. If I pay the rent up front when I sign the lease, do you think they'd be forgiving of my credit history? I am moving across the country, and don't want to get out there just to find out I cannot get into an apartment.

  1. a lot of time you can get away with just explaining why your credit is so bad and pay 1 or 2 extra months of rent. some state have a max. they are allowed to take on deposit.

  2. It all depends on the apartment. Many will allow you to move in with a hefty deposit. Or like you said "paying 6 months in advance." All they want is insurance. Also if you have a good relationship with your current landlord get them to write a letter stating you were a good tenent and paid you rent on time. This will help you get approved for the apartment.
