Question:

Reoccuring Car Dream?

When I was little around 9-12 years old I had the same dream quite often. I dreamed I was in the back of my family's car with my mother. My younger brother and sister were in the back of the car with me. My mother would park the car on the curb and walk inside a building (the building was never the same) to take care of something. After she was gone the car started to move down the hill. I would be very scared and jump into the front seat to try and stop the car. It would always take me a while to stop the car and when I finally stopped it I was far away from my mother and had to go driving around looking for her. What does this mean? (By the way, I am older now and no longer have this dream but I am still curious as to what it means.)

  1. that is crazy. maybe it means that you felt your mom was drifting away from you.

  2. This means your Mom would leave you alone with your brother and sister and you were not able to keep them in line while she was gone.  She probably expected you to make them be good, but they would not obey you.  Sometimes,  you got scared because you did not know what to do.

A car represents "your life".  At the time, your Mom was driving because she was the parent.  But she left you in situations.. perhaps just sitting in the car with your siblings, where you felt afraid and out of control.  Maybe strangers walked by and you were afraid.  Maybe she took longer than you felt comfortable with and you began to worry about her.  So, that left you "in the driver's seat" emotionally, and you were not ready to handle it.

Whew!  Aren't you glad that part of your life is over?

  3. When you were younger, there was a feeling of not being able to do something or feeling helpless as you were being driven and your mother was the "man" to be reckoned with. But now you have proven yourself most competent as you do take the lead, find a solution or "gather the troops together" as we say.  Well done.  In fact, you have proven to be reliable and good in emergencies.  Now you are the "man" to be reckoned with.

    Regards
