Repainting a guitar?

I might buy a new guitar....but it needs repainting...how would i go about doing this

  1. I would strip the paint down to the wood and polish with beeswax. I did this with a crappy squire and it looked mint.


  2. Take the guitar to a body shop that paints cars and get a estamate. For a solid color you are probably looking at $65, for a nice one. If you dont know how to take one apart take it in to a music store tell them what you are going to have done probably another $50. Do not let the people at the body shop take it apart.

    I just had mine crome plated cost about $200, but it kicks ***. Body shop can do this also.

  3. ahh.. i did this few years back. theres special paint for that - to avoid the buzzes. go to the guitar shop and get guitar paint from there. you would need to detach every single part of it, paint them (probably few coatings or layers) and assemble them back. i would say you would have to invest around 17 - 19 hours in total work hours. do it slow... with much love.. do it like you mean it... i mean paint. good luck!!
