  1. Last May when I opened my in-ground pool, it was obvious that I had a major leak in the underground piping. When I turned on the pump, the liner eventually started to float. This indicated that the water was being pumped behind the liner. To avoid digging up the piping, I purchased another 36 foot pool hose, disconnected the piping at the filter and connected the hose to the filter outlet using a threaded to hose fitting. The hose was laid on the ground to the other end of the pool. I used the piping that I took off the filter to weigh down the hose in the pool and act as a nozzle. I operated my pool all summer long using this temporary system. The answer to your question is that you can run the pipes above ground. It is not very attractive and it does create a tripping hazard. I plan on repairing the underground pipes this fall.

  2. This may seem a silly quetion , but i pretty sure our inground pool may be leaking.I just want to know that to save us a lot of money digging up the piping underground, can you have the pipes run above ground ? Is it done for asthetic looks or is there a reason why the pipies are underground ??
