Repair cost for a ML350?

A ML350 was involved in an accident but drove away. The only visible damage was to the rear bumper. It was a 2006 Mercedez ML350, with a KBB price of about 32K. The driver is claiming that it was totaled and had already sold it off to a salvage yard and is claiming 22K for it. Is this possible?

  1. He is lying or hustling you somehow... I'd be mad.

There could be some fancy sensors in the bumper but still, I can't see it.

Small Claims Court my man. He should have to prove it. And if he can't.... then you'll win.

  2. haha, he's trying to rip u off...

i did that but.. lol he's ripping u off, don't listen to him/her

  3. Of course it is possible.  Hit a curb hard enough with a unibody vehicle and it can be torqued enough to be totaled.

It is probably a scam, he sells it to a buddy in a salvage yard and buys it back cheap or gets a cut in another way.

Have someone check on what the yard does with it, check on how much they want, etc. Did your insurance company view the car?

Give your insurance company the heads up that you suspect fraud.

  4. that is a lie, and if you can prove to the insurance company that he is trying to cheat you, wich he is, than you can have that b*****d put away for awhile and the insurance company will pay for the real cost of damage, wich is probably about 300-400$
