Repair costs for riding lawnmowers: john deere vs. cub cadet. i live in western n.y.?

i will be able to do 99.98% of the repairs myself. i need to know about the prices of the parts alone.

  1. The deere will cost more but if you take care of it will last twice as long as cub.

John Deere is of a slightly better quality than a Cub Cadet and therefore the parts (except the engine) may cost slightly more.  Both mowers probably have the same type engine, Tecumseh or Briggs.  A dealer vs an independent will also result in an higher cost.  A basic tune-up (air filter, plug(s), oil change, blades sharpen, deck cleaning, etc.) should range in the area of $125 to $150 for both types.  Pickup and return costs being extra.
