I recently took my row boat on the water for the first time. I found two problems with the boat. The first one is the seams at the front of the boat on the bottom, there is a very small leak there. The only way I can think of now is to have it welded. The other problem is I had to put new oarlock bushing brackets of the boat. On the right side the bracket nearly came off and I had no screwdriver. The new style of bracket cant be riveted, any ideas on how to keep this from happening. The bracket had to be put on garden hose shape on the top edges of the boat.

  1. for leak on bottom ,,just get some JB-weld epoxy for metal, from hardware store and apply to exterior of boat seam.

  2. BOAT LEAK,   I had a bad one, my rivets leaked and i had a crack on the front of my boat.   I am a certified welder and trust me i tryed it all to keep from having to weld it.   I tryed to use hot glue, didn't work but a week.  I tryed JB weld.  I had to wait 24 hours for it to dry and i actually gave it three days.   But the first time i steped in the front of the boat it cracked.   Then i used the marine epoxy,  it worked great for about a month and same thing happend to it that the JB weld.  It just lasted a little longer.  The best thing is to do is weld it.  If it is a crack you want to make sure to s***w a hole on each ends of the cracks to keep it from cracking even more.    Then you want to weld it.  Tig welder is the best for it because you can control the heat.  You can burn a hole threw it really easy.  you could also use a Mig welder but just tack it little at a time so you don't burn threw and make your work longer. I hope that saves you a little time...

  3. Weld the leak.

The oar lock - you can use an aluminum metal strip under the oar lock and on the outside of the hull. mark the holes with the oar lock and drill through the metal strip and hull.  Use bolts with locking nuts to hold it in place.

Good Luck and Boat Safe ! !

  4. Have the crack welded as it will leak as soon as you start pounding and it flexes>The oar lock have to find the correct 1 or Mcgiver it>
