Repaired head gasket truck sat for at least half a year before being fixed now fixed signs of antifreeze mixin

did a head gasket repair on chevy 2500 1990 truck had blown head gasket for half a year or more but was not driven for quite a while and not after head gaskets failed thought they were repaired dont know though rocer arm covers still had antifreeze sludge on them when i did test run changed oil afterwards now starting to notice antifreeze sludge again could this be because oil sat in dispair for so long that it caused build up if so how many times will i have to change the oil to clear oil system thank you

  2. You could try running some motor flush through it... that will break up the sludge. k & w motor flush from autozone works well. Otherwise it will flush itself out with time if you are sure it is fixed and not still leaking.... to check you can buy some uv dye and put it in the antifreeze, then drive for a bit and check the oil with a blacklight and look for the uv dye.

  4. I would change the oil as often as possible, all that coolant sittin on the valvetrain for such a long time can really mess up the rest of the engine. After all that time coolant is definatly going to be crammed in all the little crevices and now running the engine is certain to shake some loose. Change it really often and closely inspect the oil when you drain it.
