Repairing Dell Laptops?

Is it true that Dell laptops can only be repaired by Dell certified shops? I have a great computer guy around the corner but I've heard I have to take it to a special Dell repair place.

  1. If Dell and/or certified Dell shops opens it, it won't void the warranty. Even if the neighborhood guy does great work, if he is unlicensed/unautohrized, disassembling the computer would void the warranty.  


  2. Call Dell; it's probably under warranty and they'll send someone to fix it for free.
