Repairing scratches on varnished floor?

i have a few scratches on my varnished floor and need to repair them, the cheapest way i can, they arnt very deep. does anyone have any ideas how to get them out?

  1. Wet a spot on the scratch with water.

    If the wet spot is the wrong colour, you need to match that first.

    If the colour is ok, just rub a little varnish over the scratches and they should disappear....

    Once dry, sand a bit with fine sandpaper, or steel wool, than add another bit of varnish.

    Should be good as new after two or three coats.


  2. you can buy a coloured filler from large hardware stores. it is in the shape of a crayon and i believe it is beeswax based, follow the directions and you will get a very good result. very easy to use. good luck.

    p.s. take a digital photo of the floor so you can show the sales assistant the colour.
