My friend and I recently were given a small plastic rowing boat. But its not realy in perfect nic.Theres cracks in the inside but only one in the hull thats below water level its made of plastic and has sort of 2 Layers (a hollow bit in between the hull and the out side.)We want to do it up and just use it to go out fishing. Its only about 2 meters and a half long and maybe one wide we need ideas for seats and things and places to buy them cheaply. As I said its plastic and the cracks we are going to fill with fiberglass(is that bad?) And wot types of paint should we use (cheap remember) Ive seen people using spray paint for some small boats is that okay?

  1. use scotch tape  to fill  the cracks and white out to paint it.

  2. Polyethylene?

Fiberglass won't stick to that. It is possible to "weld" plastic. You use a heated stream of compressed air and filler of the proper type. There is a special gun for that.

Is this thing hollow? if so, the first guy with the scotch tape idea is probably close. Tape up the crack, then from the top spray in expandable insulating foam (minimal expansion type). As for paint, nothing will stick very well, but try a bit of latex enamel. But if you really want cheap, don't bother with paint. The fish won't care.

Take the other guys advice about life jackets though!

  3. The first things you need to buy are life preservers.
