Repeater tipped to win Titanic Belfast Shergar Cup Classic (Handicap)
Repeater will be eying a repeat of his solid form in the Titanic Belfast Shergar Cup Classic (Handicap) at Ascot in England on Saturday, August 11, 2012. He has never raced at this venue before, but is talented enough to cope up with the change in conditions.
The Sir Mark Prescott Bt’s trainee has been priced 11 to 2 by the bookmakers, which is only second best to Sun Central, who has earned the best odds for victory today. Both runners are extremely skilful and have the ability to match the best in the business
at this level.
The latter of the above two participants has got lesser experience, but he has raced at Ascot recently and delivered a very good result. Although, he was expected to be dominant in that event, yet he could only manage a runner up position at the end of the
day.
However, the young colt will definitely be competitive in the race and the punters will be placing quite a few bets in his favour.
On the other hand, Repeater will also be a tough nut to crack in the 1 mile 4 furlong event. The going, which is good to firm, will definitely suit his running style and his team will be eying a cash prize of £14,754 from the class-3 race.
The three-year-old gelding has only taken part in one race this year and was quite competitive in it. He entered that event with a starting price of 7 to 2 and finished as a runner up in the end. The track was soft back then, which did not work in his favour,
but the weather at Ascot is perfect for him.
In 2011, the young runner participated in eight races and was aggressive in almost all of them. There was only one occasion, when he dropped out of the top three, but there have been no issues for him overall.
Other than two victories and the same number of third place finishes, Repeater has finished as a runner up on four times, which shows what he is capable of. He will pair up with Cristian Demuro in the race today. The young jockey has won a couple of Grade-3
races in his career, which proves that he has got the ability to shine under pressure.
