Repeating a college course?

I am repeating a class with the same professor, is it considered cheating if I use the same work from the previous semester. Her assignments are the same. I did great on all my assignments it was my test grades that brought me down.

  1. If you simply copy over the work, then probably so.  If you are repeating the class, then you should repeat it properly - by doing all of the work again.  If you truly did not have much trouble with the assignments, then it should not be hard to do them again.  Also, it will give you more practice, so that your test grades might be improved.

Furthermore, if your test grades were worse because of the testing conditions (i.e. some people need different conditions in order to take a test, such as in a private room) then you should speak with your instructor.

  2. It's probably frowned upon.  Don't turn in the same exact papers/work.   Use them as a baseline to work off of.  Especially for written papers.  Don't turn in the same paper!  Profs have an uncanny ability to remember past papers they read.

Also, redoing the work will help you learn it better, thus probably doing better on the tests.

  3. You can use the same assignments. After all, it is your work. You can always improve your assignments to get 100% on all of them, giving you more room to work with if you don't do so great on exams.

  4. I don't really know what you are asking. If you are taking the same course with the same professor that I wouldn't use those same papers. Even if you test scores were low, if she thought that your papers were good enough I would like to think that she would have just passed you because of that. You will have to do new papers and just hope for the best. If she hands you the test back, I would study from those.
