i first did the leaving cert in 03 and didnt achieve the points that i wanted. Went working etc til this year when I decided I'd go back to repeat. I was wondering is it possible to just repeat the subjects where my marks were down and then recalculate my 6 best subjects or would I have to repeat the whole leaving cert again. I think I dont have to repeat English, Irish and Maths not 100% though. Thanks for any help

  1. If you want to recalculate your points you have to repeat it all.

You have to do 6 subjects again. You dont have to do the same 6 but you will have to do Irish, English and Maths.

You can just do one or two subject but it wont change your points.

For example my friend got 475 and wanted to do primary teaching but she got a D2 in Irish (50 points). She repeated just Irish because she needed at least a C3 for matriculation. She got a C1 (70 points) but her overall points stayed at 375.

Why not just apply fro the course you want as a mature student?
