It seems to me that ordinary and lower class citizens have no worth in the current political system. Of course we vote for the people we want to see representing us but aren't they the same people for the most part? If this is true, is it time for a change, how?

  1. I have a right to vote for whoever I want to. So does Joe Shmo down the street. So does the millionare up the road.

And you would change that to......?????

  2. The only real way to change the system is from within, barring revolution, and if we were to revolt, what would we change the system to? Flawed as it is, our system is a pretty good one. Perhaps the political funding rules allow too much participation by lobbyists and special interests, and probably should be changed.

The best way to foster change is to become an active part of the system. One could either go to college, work hard, and become an active participant. Bill Clinton, John Edwards and Mike Huckabee all came from working class families, and went to school on a combination of hard work and scholarships. If that is not an option, become involved locally. Become an educated, vocal advocate for those you support, even if their chances of winning might seem slim. The two current candidates who are most "real", Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul, probably will not win, but their ideas filter up to those who do win, and become more mainstream with each election cycle. Both environmentalism and morality issues started out as "fringe" issues, and now they are centerpieces of our politics.

Don`t be discouraged. The system IS stacked against us in many ways, and will be until either we band together and buy our own lobbyists, or laws are passed to get rid of them for good. But as individuals, we can make a difference, even if in a small way, and a big difference if we band together, as the Ron Paul supporters seem to be doing now.

  3. We, the common people, and I include even those making low six figures and living well, are only offered frick and frack who have evolved in a political system that is corrupt and unwieldy. We have no chance of selecting the candidates from either party for offices all the way down to the local levels because only with relatively massive support available only from rich parties is anyone able to get elected in our country. This is a shame and makes a sham of democracy. It is 'socially' time for a change but the other forces that will assist this are not yet in place.

  4. this must begin, at the state and local level.

that's where a lot of career politicians get started.  weed them out in your own neighborhood first.  do not let them progress to the state level (obama), and they'll never get to the federal level.

just my opinion.  i've asked a couple "state-oriented" questions.  no one on here knows anything about their state.

    sad, sad, sad!

  5. To most Politicians, We the lower class are only their cushions

they rely on our vote to get elected.  Then, we are forgotten for the next three years.. Then, I year, before election time they are back into our town and our factory making us think they are all that. Well those days are closing  fast, people are starting to wise up. I am amazed, at the people I have run into  who are going to be voting different. If this is happening in all states wow, anything can happen in this race. But the lower class or not stupid, they are just over trusting, and use to being able to take a man word, But when you lose their respect, you have lost their vote.                                     Happy New Year.
