Is it possible to remove a bad fiber glass pool and do a concrete pool ourselves? what are some options for us to rebuild our own pool DIY style in the existing whole once we remove the fiberglass pool liner?

THANKS!!

  1. Not a good idea. I have a neighbor who is a general contractor and used his back hoe to dig the hole for his pool. But when it came to pouring the pool he said, no way, and had the professionals do it. In the first place they don't just make forms and pour concrete. They use a special formulation called "Gunite". It's sprayed on and is much more flexible than regular concrete and is therefore less likely to crack (and leak) when the ground shifts.

  2. Building a concrete pool is easy and cost effective if you do it the old school way . . .  I am always amazed at what I hear and see people pay pool contractors.

  3. It would be much the easiest and cheapest to repair the fiberglass. Speak with someone in pools or from an auto body shop.

The possibility of finding a liner that would be a replacement to your fiberglass shape would be unlikely. It would have to be dug out, the hole made larger (or the pool smaller) then the sides would have to be formed and plumbed and poured, the floor would have to be shaped to fit a new liner, as well as the apron all around the pool would have to be replaced.
