Question:

Replace a starter for a 1999 toyota Tacoma

We have removed the starter from the moter but can not get the starter out between the brake lines and other thing are in the way do i have to remove the manafold pipe can anybody help

  3. Hey Steve O. I can't get your starter out but I can tell you after it's out...no need to replace it.Instead get a set of starter contacts (at Toyota or parts house) and replace solenoid contacts & plunger.It will work like new & you'll save money (it will still be better than an aftermarket rebuilt starter even if it comes with a lifetime warranty).

    Been there / Done that.

  4. There is a bolt to the frame on the bracket for the brake line. Remove it and pull the line out of the way. Next, remove the rubber sheeting around the opening. Now you will see a few 10 mm bolt heads, remove them and a small shield will come off exposing a cutout. With the cutout exposed you can now maneuver the starter out.
