Question:

Replace an electric side view mirror

Does anyone know how to replace an electric driver's side view mirror. Does the make matter? If so, it's a 2006 Jeep Liberty. I'm pretty hand so as long as I have good directions I'll be ok. I tend to fix things on my own. It seems pretty straightforward, but because it's electric I'm not sure if I need to disconnect certain things prior to starting.

  1. Remove the cover on the inside above the door panel. If you are lucky, you will see the wires going from the mirror to the connector. Unplug the mirror wires, usually you have to push on a tap and seperate the connector. then just undo the 3 bolts to the mirror.

  2. 1. Disconnect the battery first.

    2. Remove the door panel.

    3. Disconnect the mirror wire harness.

    4. Remove the three nuts that are holding the mirror on.

    5. Replace the mirror and reconnect the wire harness.

    6. Reinstall the pieces that you removed.

    7. Reconnect the battery.
