Replaced Spark Plugs and now not getting a spark?

I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota and after replacing the spark plug for cylinder 1 (I was throwing a code and this fixed it) and seeing the corrosion we decided to replace all the spark plugs. NOW that we've replaced the plugs the truck won't start. It's turning over - just not sparking. What am I missing?!?!?

  1. check the firing order,if the wires are all in the right place check the wire from the coil to the top of the cap. are the plugs gaped correct it does make a diffrence. when you put each plug wire on it should click did it?then its time to change the plug wires because one got pulled apart when removing them to change the plugs good luck

  2. Pull one wire, maybe the number three, and check for fire.  The engine will act like it has no fire if you have the firing order wrong,,,so check that.

Make sure you have seated the wires and are making good connection.

  3. #1 - make sure the spark plug boots are inserted all the way

#2 - the old wires could be fragile and broke wile being worked on.

    Good Luck....

  4. Well, it sound like a sequence problem, did you place the wiring in its correct order, and if you did, your wires might be going bad, unplug one of the wiring plug and turn the engine have your friend check to see if the wire is sending current, do this for all the plugs, if they all fire then the problem is with the spark plugs, they're must likely not gaped to spec, the gap must be correct in order for the sequence to detonate correctly, hope that helps

  5. like other post stated i would check to make sure each wire is going to the correct plug. Also i would change out the wires to since your going through the trouble in replacing the plugs. It could be due to the plugs you are using as well try switching to oem plugs. When you do this add dielectric grease into the rubber boots to help keep the boots from sticking and maintain electrical contact.GL
