If I replace the tower I`m using right now with another tower, does it have to be configured or will it take up where the other one left off

  1. Of course it has to be configured. If your old tower is working, and provided your are using the same operating system on both machines - you could get a cross over Ethernet cable (NOT patch cable) to use the files and settings transfer wizard available on XP.

You could also back up your important files to a large capacity flash drive, external hard drive, or burn them to a CD.

  2. the only thing you will have to do is install any programs that you want on it, it takes time but you should save all of your info from your other pc on a flash drive or cd. then just put all of your old info and programs on your new pc and it will be like nothing ever changed. mechanically though nothing will really change just unplug one and plug up the other.
