Replacement Social Security card means new SSN?

If I get a replacement Social Security card, does it mean that I will have a NEW SS number? I THINK it's just a new card with the same number but I wanted to make sure.

  1. nope,  you will have the same number as before...

    don't lose that card too many times though... because you can only replace 3 a year and up to 10 per lifetime... with things like name changes not being included in that count.
