Replacement for old inboard outboard engine, what sterndrive?

Hi, yes i know this was already a question 2 month ago but ..

Well I want to repower my 24ft with an outboard. It had an 175hp 302 Ford with OMC leg 1976, I like to install a 200HP outbord and phillip b offered drawings for a bracket in the original thread.

Couldn't figure out how to contact him directly, hopefully he is reading trough this one.

  1. The OMC drive left a large hole in the transom.To now hang a outboard you will need to fill the hole or better yet replace the transom


  2. You will need more than 200 hp to perform the same as the 302 as the torque is far more with the inboard> And the prop is larger> 250 would be better> Your fuel usage will increase with the OB>
