  1. sugar, sucranat, molasses (mix with sugar to get your brown sugar texture).

  2. White sugar can be an even substitute, but you didn't say what you are making.  It's not as moist as brown sugar, so you may need to add a little more liquid to keep the right consistency.

  3. Black honey

  4. 1 cup brown sugar = 1 cup sugar + 1 1/2 tablespoons molasses

1 cup dark brown sugar = 1 cup sugar + 1/4 cup molasses.

  5. Take the brown sugar you have, and add white sugar to get 3/4 cups.  Hopefully you have at least 1/2 of what you need.

The perfect substitute would be white sugar plus molasses, because that's all brown sugar really is.  But most people don't have molasses.

The molasses in the brown sugar hardens, and it makes stuff chewier or crispier.  Whatever you're making--it's not going to ruin it.
