Question:

Replacing Home Stereo?

I've needed to replace my stereo speakers for awhile, but haven't because I'm afraid that I'll end up with something of poor quality (or pay too much). The system I have currently is an 11 years old 50 disc changer with 5.1 surround sound, great woofers, dying front speakers, and is obviously outdated.

Now systems have bluetooth, cd, dvd, and everything else. Surround sound and good quality are most important to me, but where do I start in my search?

I would like something with stereo bluetooth as I already have a headset, but I don't want to sacrifice quality for a USB port and other bells and whistles.

  1. Try Klipsch, JBL, Sony or Yamaha on a budget. A while back I saw JMLab Chorus 707 bookshelf speakers for around 400 dollars a pair mail order. Not inexpensive, but cheap for what you get as they are among the best in the world. Other brands that may not be the cheapest, but are super good values are Boston Acoustics, Athena, DCM and Paradigm. Keep an eye on the closeouts online or mail order and there can be incredible bargains.

  2. for a/v i recommends Yamaha or Onkyo. you could find a very good a/v receiver with paying too much.

if the receiver its in good condition and the power output is good just get new speakers.

About the bluetooth thing i really dont know what are you talking about, stereo bluetooth technology its used for mobile applications like cell phones, mp3 players and portable media not for home theater use. if you want wireless audio get a wireless headset IR or RF.
